Are you tired of going to the Terrace Dining Room (TDR) to enjoy a nice relaxing meal, before coming to the realization that there are NO FORKS? Well Maurice Sips Hot Coffee is doing something about it. American University students pay over $51,000 a year in tuition, therefore we don’t feel that it’s an unreasonable request for there to be forks at TDR.

This is ForkAid, a nonprofit organization whose aim is to:

Educate the public about the lack of forks in the TDR
Increase the supply of forks in TDR
Create emergency back-up plans when dishwashers fail to work
Create a TDR Watch Program to catch those who are stealing forks from TDR

WHAT IS YOUR ULTIMATE GOAL?

To never have an American University student, faculty member or guest go without a fork ever again?

HOW DO YOU PLAN TO GET MONEY TO BUY FORKS?

ForkAid is in the process of putting together fundraisers, and benefit concerts to help raise funds to support the cause.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Attend ForkAid fundraisers, and every time you go to TDR and can’t get your hands on a fork use the hashtag #ForkAid and take a photo of the evidence. The more people we’re able to reach through this cause, the easier it will be to make sure TDR is never forkless.

DO PLASTIC FORKS COUNT AS FORKS?

CAN YOU DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE BAD FOOD AT TDR?

WHAT ABOUT THE LACK OF OTHER SILVERWARE AND DISHWARE AT TDR?

We’re looking to expand our program to cover spoons, knives, bowls, and cups. But right now forks are our top priority.

WILL FORKAID EXPAND TO TENLEY CAFE?

No, they always have a strong supply of forks.

WHY IS MAURICE SIPS HOT COFFEE INVOLVED WITH FORKAID?

MSHC was frustrated that the American University community was denied of their basic eating privileges. They wanted to take a stand and “swag out” with forks in their hands.
